Looking Back at 2007

2007 was a very exciting year for Norpak Handling. Over the last year we signed new partnership agreements, introduced new equipment, added to our "Team" and ended the year with a very successful Open House.

We started 2007 off by offering our customers "Guaranteed Shipments" which meant IF WE'RE LATE, WE PAY THE FREIGHT! All items that were 24 hour, 1 week, 2 week and 4 week items from Hytrol fell under this category. "Guaranteed Shipments" have been such a success that together with Hytrol Norpak has continued to keep this commitment.

In the spring we made the big announcement about the signing of a Canada wide distributor agreement with Diamond Phoenix of Lewiston, Maine. Diamond Phoenix is a world class manufacturer of material handling equipment, including Vertical and Horizontal Carousels, Vertical Lift Modules and Pick to Light Systems. They are technology leaders in order picking and order fulfillment solutions for the e-commerce, distribution and in-line manufacturing markets. Adding the Diamond Phoenix product line will allow Norpak to offer their customers a broader range of material storage, sortation and picking solutions.

Norpak and Norpak/BC both received the Hytrol Pillar of Wisdom Award. This award recognizes distributors who have attained a certain goal in sales with Hytrol Conveyor.

We were pleased to announce that we had relocated our Montreal Sales and Service Center to 223 Rue Sainte-Catherine, Suite #400 in St. Constant QC. The office was previously located in St. Leonard. Our new spacious and brighter facility provides an enhanced working environment for our employees. This, along with the strategic location of the facility, will allow us to serve our Montreal and Quebec customers more effectively.

In the summer, a number of Norpak employees attended the Hytrol International Conveyor Sales School and the Pallet Handling Seminar in Toronto, Ontario. Typically these schools are held in Jonesboro, Arkansas at the Hytrol facility but for the first time ever they held these sessions in Canada for their Canadian Distributors. It was a great success and a terrific turnout. The purpose of Distributor training with Hytrol is to seek and train persons affiliated with the Hytrol distributor network for the purpose of enhancing their ability to use, recommend, engineer or sell Hytrol conveyor more efficiently.

We welcomed the 24 Volt revolution. In the world of 24 volt material handling equipment there is a need for higher reliability and flexibility. Hytrol’s E24™ concept is designed from the ground up to be the best 24 VDC conveyor drive technology in existence. With its robust motor and spool-driven rollers, the E24™ provides Efficiency, Ergonomic design, and Energy savings. These three features - along with many more - are the reason that Hytrol is leading the revolution of 24 volt technology.

In December Julien Montpetit joined Norpak's team as Field Sales Coordinator at our Montreal Sales and Service Center. In this position Julien will work directly with Alain Bosse; Norpak's Regional Sales Manager, on both pre and post sale activities

We ended the year with a very successful Open House at our Head Office in Port Hope, ON. We encouraged customers to come visit and see the latest Technology that could drastically improve their operation. This was an opportunity that we were very pleased to be able to share with our friends and customers. We featured a Diamond Phoenix SMARTdepot™ system as well as the Hytrol E24. Representatives from Diamond Phoenix and Hytrol were on hand to answer any questions and to explain the features and benefits of these systems. The SMARTdepot Vertical Lift Module as well as the E24 demo unit is still on display in our shop and will be available for viewing until late spring.
