Norpak Builds New Plant
November 1, 1996

Norpak Handling are pleased to announce that construction will commence on a new office and shop building in early December. The approximately 6500 sq. ft. facility will be constructed on property owned by the company in Port Hope, Ontario. Norpak is one of North America’s largest distributors of Mathews Conveyor Company products. The company designs and supplies conveying systems for the automotive, food and industrial sector as well as package handling equipment for a wide range of warehousing and retail clients.

Norpak was originally founded in 1990 and has continually grown since then. The company employs 7 people working from offices on John Street in Port Hope. The addition of a shop area will allow equipment to be set up and tested prior to shipment. It will also allow the company to fabricate the special custom designed components that are often required to suit a customer’s unique application. The new shop should initially increase employment by 4 workers. After that, employment will gradually increase as conditions warrant. Norpak believes there is an increasing demand for their product and expertise in the Canadian market.

The new facility will be will be built by Peak Construction of Brighton. Project architects are Foord and Taylor Limited of Port Hope. Norpak expects the new plant will be ready for occupancy in April 1997.
